- The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and support of all Linux and unix (*nix) platforms and associated technologies for internal and external customers. Key responsibilities will include installation and configuration of new and existing Linux servers, installation and updating of software packages, health, security and performance monitoring, writing automation scripts, documenting configurations, troubleshooting problems and providing regular status reports.
- Hands-on Linux administration skills, Ubuntu/Debian is preferable but not entirely necessary.
- Good knowledge of mission-critical common software and technologies such as DNS, DHCP, NFS, SMB, Apache, MySQL, PHP etc.
- Basic understanding of network technologies (routing, port forwarding, vpn) and ability to configure firewall rules with iptables.
- Basic bash or python/php/perl scripting for task automation
- Zimbra, Postfix.
- Nginx, HAproxy, Squid, apache_mod_proxy, load balancing, HA.
- Monitoring software - Nagios, Zabbix, Cacti.
- Asterisk, FreePBX
- Backup software and understanding of rsync incremental backups.
- Experience in a mixed Windows / Linux environment
